Her Royal Highness's Traditional Yuletide Service of Carols Honours Charity Helpers

Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Yuletide celebration at Westminster Abbey, with guests including dignitaries, stars, and everyday helpers who have made a difference in their neighbourhoods.

The large audience will listen to a mix of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from stars like Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet.

Focusing on Kindness and Compassion

The central message of the event, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on the afternoon, is generosity and expressing affection towards one's neighbour.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose child passed away from a brain tumour, and who set up a charity, a charity called Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to help households where there is a terminally ill child.

"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often discreetly and without words, and without any expectation or recognition, make an extraordinary difference to the lives of others," Her Royal Highness stated in a message before the concert.

A Steady Comeback

The royal has been undertaking her own gradual return to public life following her health challenges and treatment, last month delivering her first public speech for two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "quiet, often invisible work of caring".

Musical Talent and Access

Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by budding artists supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, set up with the help of the Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for musical tuition.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who plays the trumpet and is from Wales, has been helped by the trust, with awards contributing to equipment, teaching, and travel fees - and she said it was "amazing" to be performing at the concert.

"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," Carys said. She is now a student at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to cultivate their performance abilities.

Generations Gathering

Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who is a euphonium player, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Attending the service will be representatives of different generations.

That will feature young Saphia Turner, nine, winner of a youth community award, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to raise money for community pantries.

Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts

The Abbey has been festooned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

Taking to the stage will be recording artist Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a Cornish sea shanty group, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the chance to take part was "the icing on the cake for us."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be broadcast on a major network on Christmas Eve.
