The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
